Why I'm Taking An Active Blogging Break

I love blogging and I love my blog so so much. But recently I have become a bit overwhelmed as there is so much to do. I feel like I’m constantly working away on it but never really getting anywhere. It’s become pretty disheartening in all honesty. I need an active blogging break.

What Is An Active Blogging Break?

An active blogging break is where you take a break from actively publishing posts and uploading on social media. However, you do continue to do work behind the scenes. I have been working so hard to create and schedule pins on Pinterest, share posts to Facebook and Twitter multiple times a day, update old content, work through courses to improve myself and my blog and write up new posts.

Most of my blogging is done once Little J is settled in bed. This can be anywhere between 7:45 (on a good day!) and 8:30 (on a bad day!) During the week in the mornings, I can generally get an hour or 2 but it’s not enough time to do everything I want to do. I constantly feel like I’m chasing my tail and it’s pretty exhausting!

Why I'm taking an active blogging break - To do list!

I’m currently working my way through Jenny in Neverlands Blogging Mindset Mastery and The Navigato SEO for bloggers (not affiliate just really like them!) I want to learn everything that I can so that I can be the best I possibly can be. At the moment I don’t feel like I am putting out my very best content and that’s not acceptable.

What Am I Hoping To Achieve?

  1. Create 1,000,000 pins – Not really, but I do want to create a lot so that I can get ahead of myself.
  2. Update old content – I want to make sure that my best and more popular posts are SEO friendly and also implement everything I’ve learnt.
  3. Write up posts ready for October and schedule them including social media
  4. Come up with ideas for November and December
  5. Finish and start implementing everything that I have learnt from Jenny in Neverland and The Navigato

I feel confident that by doing this I will be able to always be ahead of myself and be consistent with uploading. At the moment, I write my posts the week before they are due to go live. For example, this post is being written the day before it’s due to be published.

That works for some people, but it doesn’t give me enough time to make sure that my posts are perfect. I want to make blogging my career so I need to be organised.

Conclusion

The reason that I have decided to share this information with you is so that I can hold myself accountable. It’s here for everyone to see so there are no excuses for not doing it.

I’m not seeing this break as giving up or being lazy. It’s giving myself the best possible opportunity to be great and get organised. I’m looking forward to coming back to blogging feeling refreshed, energised and better than ever!

I’ll still pop an email out on Sunday to my mailing list so I can keep you up to date on my progress. If you’re not part of my mailing list you can sign up below:

See you in a couple of weeks!

I took an active blogging break this summer and it made such a huge difference to take the time to work on all those not-so-fun behind the scenes things that make a huge impact!

I think my trouble was I was spending too much time on the other stuff and not enough time on writing! I’ve managed to write two posts so far so I’m really happy!

Had no idea this was a thing! But sounds like a great idea. I think we all strive to get content out there as much as we can we forget (well I know I do) about all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Well done to you and hope it works for you 🙂

Thank you so much. I’ve loved having this extra time to actually get writing done and not focus on social media!

Wow, that’s some pretty heavy work even though you’re going to be on a break. Wishing you all the best with your rest time, and here’s to coming back stronger than ever!

You sound so organized! I’m just lurching from one post to the next and creating the insta and Pinterest images as I go. Sounds like a great idea to take some time and gather your thoughts. Enjoy the productivity x
