Looking Back At August

A rainbow against a grey sky. You can see the top of a house and trees

Welcome to my next ‘Looking back’ post – Looking Back At August 2020! If you missed the first Looking Back where I explained it, the first post of each month will be a monthly round-up of the month before. That’s a lot of month in that paragraph!

Here we are again – another looking back post. I feel like I’m always writing one of these 😂 This year is going both incredibly fast and soooo slow – how does it do that? I normally dread autumn coming because my mental health takes a bit of a nosedive. However, I am actually quite happy to see September this year. Mainly so that I can start wearing jumpers again and get snuggled up under a blanket. And obviously, I’m looking forward to not sweating my tits off at 9am.

Anyway, let’s into looking back at August

Seeing Friends and Family

We have a few birthdays in August including my dad, brother and niece. I got to see some family members that I haven’t seen in a while which was lovely! Obviously we were all still very careful and remained socially distant but it was still amazing to catch up. I cannot wait to start hugging people again!!

My Weight

I’m having to use the last weight I recored which was from June as I didn’t weight myself in July. I’m sure I gained though!

Last Weigh in – 14st 5lbs

Todays weight – 14st 5lbs

Okay. So, I haven’t lost anything yet BUT I haven’t gained either, so I’m taking that as a win!

Daz and I actually made more of an effort last month. We meal planned much better and cut back on snacking. It was great to actually have some different meals and not the usual, ‘I don’t know what to cook so let’s have Spag Bol again.’ And we even made homemade pizza which leads me on to my next part.

Date Night

We did our first date night from the 100 Dates – Scratch off bucket list I talked about in Looking back at June! We did the ‘Cook a meal from scratch.’ I normally do most of the cooking anyway but we actually made a meal together, which was homemade pizza!

They were so yummy! We used pitta bread as the base and honestly, I am converted. The edges go so crispy and crunchy. They had cheese, sweetcorn, chicken, peppers and we topped them with mozzarella! Two had a spicy bbq base and the other two had tomato purée, garlic purée (because who can be bothered to chop it when you can get it already puréed for you?!) and mixed herb base.

I really think that these will probably be our new Friday Night treat!

Normally on a Saturday night as our date night, Daz and I can be found playing The Last Of Us part 2. However, with the sad news that Chadwick Boseman had passed away, we decided to watch Black Panther.

I was actually quite organised in August. I created Pins for Pinterest in advance and scheduled them for the week coming, I also scheduled old posts to go live on Facebook and uploaded to Instagram a bit more regularly.

Fair enough, I did have a week where I lost ALL motivation and did no blogging at all, but I picked it back up again. With a lot of ‘encouragement’ from Darren.

To help with my motivation I have actually purchased a course from one of my favourite bloggers Jenny in Neverland. Last month, Jenny released her first course which will help you to ‘Master Your Blogging Mindset, Reach Your Goals + Grow a Thriving and Successful Blog!‘ Well, obviously I signed up straight away!

So far, I am LOVING it! It teaches you all about the law of attraction and goal setting and I am feeling SO motivated. Hopefully, I won’t get any more mid-month slumps!

I also decided to change my blog colours in August. The old colours were a bit too bright, not very easy on the eyes and I felt like my blog needed a bit of a refresh. Plus I love Pink 💗

Email Opt-in Freebie

If you remember, last month I announced that I would be creating an email opt-in freebie. Well, I completed it and I am so pleased with how it turned out! I worked so hard on getting it just right.

This ebook talks you through easy and simple ways to help you improve your mental health and wellbeing. If you haven’t got your copy of the ebook yet, just subscribe to my mailing list by clicking on the image below and it will take you through to sign up.

Mental Health and Wellbeing PLUS Daily Checklist

Did I Achieve My Goals?

These were my goals from July:

  1. Get 800 blog views – I missed out by 71 views 😔 I got 729 views which I am still really happy with actually!
  2. Complete my freebie – Yes! See above 😃

Goals For September

  1. 800 Blog views – I’m not giving up on this one, I WILL achieve 800 blog views this month. I can do it! Any help at all will be so greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share any of my posts or tag a friend in a post that you will think they might like!
  2. Complete ‘Blogging Mindset Mastery’ by Jenny in Neverland – I purchased this course over a month ago but due to distractions and general bad timekeeping from me, I haven’t yet had time to complete it. But this month I will! I will be the professional blogger that I dream of being!

And that is my month. It’s been quite a good one actually. I’m hoping that I can make September even better. Like I said earlier, normally I find the transition from Summer to Autumn tough on my mental health. I find that my anxiety starts to play up so I’m going to take extra care this month to make sure I look after myself and keep an eye out for any of my usual tells.

That’s it for now, thanks for Looking Back At August with me!

I’m glad I found your blog through Of a Glasgow Girl, it’s lovely! That homemade pizza looks absolutely delicious, I definitely think I will give that a try, I never would have thought of using pitta bread as a base for pizza so what a brilliant idea!

Sounds like a lovely month, birthdays always make it so much more fun. Date night looks lush, we ought to do that more often. Well done on being so close to your goal. I hope you make it in September. xx

Thank you so much Smell! Yeah, it was shame not to reach my target as I’d had just over 1,000 views the month before, but thats blogging for you I guess.
I love our little date nights. We normally do our own thing during the week so it’s nice just to come together on a Saturday night and spend some time together ❤️

We eat with the kids most nights these days so some time just for us would be lovely too.
