Welcome to my next ‘Looking back’ post – Looking Back At July! If you missed the first Looking Back where I explained it, the first post of each month will be a monthly round-up of the month before. That’s a lot of month in that paragraph!
Do you know I very nearly scrapped doing my looking back posts? Each month, I feel like I constantly say the same things. And I think I’m embarrassed because I never complete my monthly goals more often than not.
However, Daz made me realise that these posts are a good way to look back on everything I have achieved, and I should take that as motivation to actually complete my monthly goals!
So, let’s get into looking back at July, shall we?
What Did I Get Up To?
Seeing Friends And Family
I’ve been able to see a little bit more of my mum and dad, which has been absolutely lovely!
It was also Little J’s second birthday at the start of July, so we had a lovely socially distanced picnic in the park with a few close friends and family. The sun was shining, the kids (and some big kids!) played a bit of football, and we had lots and lots of bubbles! It was so much fun.
A massive change from his first birthday party! We hired out a local coffee and cake shop and invited around 50 people. I think we were a bit excited last year. Much more relaxed this time!
It was just so amazing to see some different faces, too, so that has been lovely!
I don’t want to talk about my weight. To be completely honest, it’s not been a great month, and I just haven’t been in the right headspace. I also forgot to weigh myself this morning…..🤦♀️
The trouble is, I am finding it so difficult to find nice healthy meals that all 3 of us can eat. Little J has gone off of E V E R Y T H I N G at the moment, and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to know what on earth to cook.
If anyone wants to share any family-friendly meal ideas with me that aren’t Spaghetti bolognese, I’d love to hear them!
We didn’t get round to planning ANY date nights from our scratch-off poster this month. There is a reason, but I’m going to discuss that in more detail in an upcoming blog post.
We do have a type of date night that we have been doing every Saturday night for the last few weeks, and that is playing the PlayStation. When I was younger, I loved playing the PlayStation – Crash Bandicoot and Spyro were my absolute faves!
Anyway, we have been playing The Last of Us 2. We loved the first one and scared ourselves silly with it, so when the second one came out, we just HAD to get it. Every Saturday night, for a few hours, we play the game. Daz with the control pad and me giving directions as somehow, he misses pretty much everything.
I so love our little game night together, but I’m starting to think that Little J knows when we’re having a nice evening together as whenever we play our game, he always, without fail, wakes between 11pm and 12am.
I actually had a good blogging month last month. I mostly stuck to schedule, I upped my Pinterest game, and got my most ever views on my blog – 1,003!
Just because I like seeing it, here is the proof:
Just over 1,000 views! I never thought I’d get that many! Thank you so much to everyone that read my blog last month; you have no idea how grateful I am. I put in a lot of hard work to get this number with promotion, Pinterest, etc. But I also feel like it was a fluke, so I’m not expecting that many views this month!
I’ve just announced this to the people who are already signed up for my newsletter, but I have decided to do an opt-in freebie for when you follow my blog via email.
I read that bloggers often offer a freebie as a reward to new people for signing up to their mailing list. So, in my quest to become a more professional blogger, I am now offering a freebie!
It’s still in its production stage at the moment, but it should be ready to go live later this month.
Great, but what is it, Lisa? Well, you will have to subscribe and find out! 😉😝
Once you have subscribed, you’ll only receive emails from me when I have a new post going live and the odd special announcement.
Did I Achieve My Goals?
These were my goals from June:
- Lose 2lb – I don’t know? More than likely not
- Get 700 views on my blog – Yes, I smashed it! *fist pump*
- Get organised – Kind of?? But also no, because this post is late going out because I only started it today.
Goals For August
- Get 800 blog views – I would be ever so grateful if you would help. If there is a post that you particularly like, please do feel free to share it on Facebook, Twitter, email, or even send the link via WhatsApp to a friend. It helps get my work out there, and it might even help someone.
- Complete my freebie – I’m really excited to be offering an opt-in freebie. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while, and it feels like it finally feels like the right time.
That’s it for August. I’m not going to set myself too many goals as I never achieve them! Let’s go with 2 for the time being, and once I manage to complete those each month, then I will start adding more!
That’s it for looking back at July. It’s definitely had its up and downs. Good points were Little J’s birthday and my blog views. My down points were trying to deal with lockdown and my own mental health issues, but I will delve into this in much more detail in a later post.
How was your July? Did you reach your goals? What are you looking forward to in August? Let me know!
Before you go, would you please do me a favour? If you liked this post, would you mind just giving that little heart down the bottom of this page a click? Or maybe give it a like and share on social media? Or even leave me a little comment below. It really does make such a difference, and you have no idea how much I would appreciate it! Thank you
