Looking Back At July

Lots of bubbles are floating up. The background is leafy green trees and the blue sky with a few wispy clouds

Welcome to my next ‘Looking back’ post – Looking Back At July! If you missed the first Looking Back where I explained it, the first post of each month will be a monthly round-up of the month before. That’s a lot of month in that paragraph!

Do you know, I very nearly scrapped doing my looking back posts? Each month I feel like in constantly saying the same things all the time. And I think I’m embarrassed because more often than not, I never complete my monthly goals.

However, Daz made me realise that these posts are a good way to look back on everything that I have achieved and I should take that as motivation to actually complete my monthly goals!

So, let’s get into looking back at July, shall we?

What Did I Get Up To?

Seeing Friends And Family

I’ve been able to see a little bit more of my mum and dad, which has been absolutely lovely!

It was also Little J’s second birthday at the start of July, so we had a lovely socially distanced picnic in the park with a few close friends and family. It was so much fun. The sun was shining, the kids (and some big kids!) played a bit of football and we had lots and lots of bubbles!

A massive change from his first birthday party! We hired out a local coffee and cake shop and invited around 50 people. Think we were bit excited last year. Much more relaxed this time!

It was just so amazing to see some different faces too so that has been lovely!

My Weight

I don’t want to talk about my weight. It’s not been a great month to be completely honest and I just haven’t been in the right headspace. I also forgot to weigh myself this morning…..🤦‍♀️

Trouble is, I am finding it so difficult to find nice healthy meals that all 3 of us can eat. Little J has gone off of E V E R Y T H I N G at the moment and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to know what on earth to cook.

If anyone wants to share any family friendly meal ideas with me that aren’t Spaghetti bolognese I’d love to hear them!

Date Night

We didn’t get round to planning ANY date nights from our scratch off poster this month. There is a reason, but I’m going to discuss that in more detail in an upcoming blog post.

We do have a type of date night that we have been doing every Saturday night for the last few weeks and that is playing the PlayStation. When I was younger I loved playing the PlayStation – Crash Bandicoot and Spyro were my absolute faves!

Anyway, we have been playing The Last of Us 2. We loved the first one and scared ourselves silly with it so when the second one came out, we just HAD to get it. Every Saturday night for a few hours, we play the game. Daz with the control pad and me giving directions as somehow, he misses pretty much everything.

I so love our little game night together, but I’m starting to think that Little J knows when we’re having a nice evening together as whenever we play our game, he always, without fail, wakes between 11pm and 12am.

I actually had a good blogging month last month. I mostly stuck to schedule, I upped my Pinterest game and I got my most ever views on my blog – 1,003!

Just because I like seeing it, here is the proof:

Screenshot of WordPress monthly view stats. Stats are showing at 1,003

Just over 1,000 views! I never thought I’d get that many! Thank you so much to everyone that read my blog last month, you have no idea how grateful I am. I did put in a lot of hard work to get this number with promoting and Pinterest etc. But I also feel like it was a fluke, so I’m not expecting that many views this month!

Opt-in Freebie

I’ve just announced this to the people who are already signed up to my newsletter, but I have decided to do an opt-in freebie for when you follow my blog via email.

I read that bloggers often offer a freebie as a reward to new people for signing up to their mailing list. So, in my quest to become a more professional blogger I am now offering a freebie too!

It’s still in its production stage at the moment, but it should be ready to go live later this month.

Great, but what is it Lisa? Well, you will just have to subscribe and find out! 😉😝

Success! You're on the list.

Once you have subscribed, you’ll only receive emails from me when I have a new post going live and the odd special announcement.

Did I Achieve My Goals?

These were my goals from June:

  1. Lose 2lb – I don’t know? More than likely not
  2. Get 700 views on my blog – Yes, I smashed it! *fist pump*
  3. Get organised – Kind of?? But also no, because this post is late going out because I only started it today.

Goals For August

  1. Get 800 blog views – I would be ever so grateful if you would help. If there is a post that you particularly like, please do feel free to share it on Facebook, Twitter, email or even just send the link via WhatsApp to a friend. It helps get my work out there and it might even help someone
  2. Complete my freebie – I’m really excited to be offering an opt-in freebie. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while and it feels like it finally feels like the right time.

That’s it for August. I’m not going to set myself too many goals as I never achieve them! Let’s go with 2 for the time being and once I manage to complete those each month, then I start adding more!

That’s it for looking back at July. It’s definitely had its up and downs. Good points where Little J’s birthday and my blog views. Down points were trying to deal with lockdown and my own mental health issues – but I’m going delve into this in much more detail in a later post.

How was your July? Did you reach your goals? What are you looking forward to in August? Let me know!

Before you go, would you please do me a favour? If you liked this post, would you mind just giving that little heart down the bottom of this page a click? Or maybe give it a like and share on social media? Or even leave me a little comment below. It really does make such a difference and you have no idea how much I would appreciate it! Thank you

Thank you so much! Was a surprise, I must admit! Been working hard with Pinterest and it does seem to be increasing my views slightly.
Thank you, hope you have a good month too! xx

I think it’s so important to stop and look back on what we have and haven’t followed through on in the month – that’s how we know if we’re hitting our goals or if they are nothing more than dreams. We have a similar kind of date night here, except that it’s Mario kart that we love playing. My husband downloaded an app on his firestick that allows us to play it using Bluetooth controllers lol

Lisa Jones 05/08/2020 - 12:50 pm

Haha that’s so cool! Probably would be a good idea for us as the game we are playing scares the life out of us 😂😂
I think I need to put an action plan in place when I set my goals. Doing my looking back posts makes me realise that I’m very good at setting goals but not actually doing anything to achieve them!!

July sounds like it was a pretty good month. Weight loss is hard, I am really really struggling with it too. I have been exercising but the weight just does not move, I am trying so hard to NOT be disheartened but it is really hard.

How do Kids know when it is a special evening?? Little monkeys.

Well done on smashing your blogging goals! That’s amazing news x x

Thank you so much!

Weight loss is tough! Well done for exercising, I absolutely detest exercise! It’s so difficult when you put on the effort but don’t see the results.

I have no idea how the little one knows when we’re trying to have evening an evening together!! Must be able to sense it 🤣 xx
