I love Inspirational Quotes. They can motivate you to get stuff done, calm you down when you’re anxious or angry or pick you up when you’re feeling down. They’re great for the days you feel meh or when you are stressed or unhappy or to help banish the January blues.
So today, I am sharing with you my top favourite inspirational quotes.
I would spend ages on the internet, hunting down the best quotes and finding the ones that really spoke to me. I would then print these out and keep them in a little box and pick one at random every morning to give me a boost for the day. For a short while, I would even take these to work with me. I would pop them by my computer screen so that I could have that constant reminder throughout the day. I still have a board up in my bedroom with some of my favourite inspirational quotes to give that lift in the morning to get my day started well.
So here are my favourite inspirational quotes:
No Matter How Long The Winter, Spring Is Sure To Follow – Proverb

I’ve started with my favourite quote. I love it so much that I have it tattooed on me, which you can see in my post, ten things that you may not know about me if you want to!
I came across this quote purely by coincidence, and I feel like I was meant to find it (getting all philosophical now). My depression and anxiety had been awful, but I was just about coming out through the other side.
I had bought a grown-up colouring book as I’d heard that colouring is meant to be very good for mental health. When I opened the front page, there was this quote, and I instantly fell in love with it. Yes, I was going through dark, difficult times, but I will get better. Spring will come again.
Only another thought popped into my head. Yes, Spring would come and then Summer, but then we have Autumn, and before we know it, we’re right back around to Winter again. This makes me think that I’m going to get ill again with my mental health.
But actually, it brought me some comfort. Mental health is a tricky little monkey, and the moment you take your eye off of it, it will go and cause trouble. But Spring will come around again, so you don’t need to worry about being stuck in Winter forever. Does that make sense?
It Does Not Do To Dwell On Dreams And Forget To Live – Albus Dumbledore

Yes, I’ve included a quote from the Harry Potter books. I will always love Harry Potter, but please know that I do not support or agree with what J. K. Rowling is saying and doing at the time of writing this.
I used to live in my own head, and I could daydream for hours and hours on end. I would daydream about winning lots of money, getting my dream job, designing houses, meeting celebrities etc.
The problem is, I would spend time daydreaming about such outrageous things and goals that I would never be able to achieve them! So, rather than going out and making extraordinary things happen in my life, I would daydream about them instead!
I am so much better now, probably because I don’t have the time to daydream anymore! It’s still a good reminder to have, though. Once I’ve saved up a few pennies, I’m going to get this tattooed on me.
Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy – Theodore Roosevelt

I have discussed this quote before in my post ‘Nothing Compares To You’. Honestly, when I pop onto Instagram and see people’s perfect homes in different shades of grey and white, everything in its correct place, not a speck of dust, just done a workout, child playing happily, just been on holiday, perfect hair, makeup on, been for an educational walk and all that jazz, it makes me feel crap about my life.
But this is my problem, not theirs. For all I know, they might have used a backdrop to get that picture, be over a friend’s house, used 12 filters to look good, or they could just be big fat liars. Who knows?
So actually, I may not have what they have, but who’s to say what they have is better? When I compare myself to others, I feel crap. So I have to remind myself of what I do have. I think back to 10-15 years ago, Lisa – did I expect to have what I have now? I think I’m doing alright.
There Are Seven Days In A Week, And “Someday” Is Not One Of Them – Benny Lewis

How often do you say ‘oh, I’d love to do <something> one day’ or ‘I’ll do that job tomorrow’ and never get round to it? We’re all guilty of it.
As you can tell from my name, I procrastinate. Why put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether? That’s my motto in life! But you don’t get anywhere in life by procrastinating, unfortunately. So I need this reminder every single day.
People Wait All Week For Friday, All Year For Summer, All Life For Happiness – Unknown

It’s so true, though. How often do you say you can’t wait for Friday or for the sun? We’re wishing our lives away and forgetting to just live in the moment that we’re in. Imagine how much fun we could have if we started enjoying the right now rather than waiting?
Remind Yourself That It’s Okay Not To Be Perfect – Unknown

I think that it’s so normal to strive for perfection. It’s just part of life. The reason that I procrastinate is because I want what I do to be perfect. However, sometimes things cannot be perfect, so I just put it off instead of doing my best.
Things don’t need to be perfect or right to make us happy.
Conclusion
And there are my all-time favourite quotes that give my mental health a boost.
The great thing about inspirational quotes is that they are open to interpretation. I have shared with you how I interpret them, but they might be completely different for you, and that’s alright! If it brings comfort to you or motivates you, what does it matter? Nobody is wrong.
What do you think of these inspirational quotes? Have you seen them already? What are your favourite quotes? Let me know in the comments!
Before you go, would you please do me a favour? If you liked this post, would you mind just giving that little heart down the bottom of this page a click? Love this quote Melissa. Reminds. E of another of my faves that I have in my Instagram bio: “Better to write for yourself & have no public, than write for the public and have no self” 💛💛 Xo
Love love love this post. I also love a quite or two to get me motivated or remind me that I’m actually doing OK despite what else is happening around me or in my life. A few of my faves are:
“You don’t have to run everyday, to be a runner every day”
“Just trying to be better not the best”
“You can do anything, but not everything”
These have helped me so much recently. Sometimes it’s good to be reminded that actually, you’re doing fine. 💛
Xo
Ooh I absolutely love “You can do anything, but not everything” I think we forgot that sometimes xx
Thank you for sharing, these have given me the kick I really needed today! One of my favourite quotes is: writing for your soul even though no one is there to read it is far better than writing for your readers when your soul isn’t present <3
Thank you so much, I’m glad they helped! Oh I really like that one. And it’s so true. It really shows when someone is passionate about their writing compared to just writing about what’s popular xx
Such an uplifting post, I love the first one especially. So true x
Thank you! Yes, that’s my favourite quote too ❤️
I love these quotes you shared. 🙂 One of my favourites is “done is better than perfect” 🙂
Thank you so much! Ooh I like this one ❤️
Thanks. My fav one is Comparison is the thief of joy.
Thank you so much for sharing these. I’m feeling in a bit of a tough spot with my mental health at the moment and I’m really struggling with motivation and positivity, so these are absolutely perfect for me right now! And they’re all so right. I particularly needed the one about procrastination today – I have SO much to do and I’ve been putting it all off, so I need to get organised!
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve not been doing too good with your mental health. I hope that you’re doing a bit better now?
I’m completely with you on the Procrastinating front 🙈
These are some really love inspiration qoutes I’m never been big on reading motivational things until lately so I loved this x
Thank you so much! I’m glad that you liked them ❤️
Awww I love all of these quotes! That first one is great, it reminds me of a really good poem by Erin Hanson I always keep to hand
“Life Is unpredictable,
it changes with the seasons,
even your coldest winter,
Happens for the best of reasons,
And though it feels eternal,
Like all you’ll ever do is freeze,
I promise spring is coming,
And with it brand new leaves.”
I needed a bit of cheering up / motivating today and this is the perfect post to do it!
Thank you!

Thank you so much! Oh that’s a beautiful poem, thank you so much for sharing! Ah I’m glad the post helped.
Hope you have a great day ❤️
I do love a quote. I think quotes have so much power when we find the perfect one for how we’re feeling!
Exactly! They’re great for expressing how we’re feeling when we don’t have the words ourselves ❤️
Ah this is such an uplifting post – such a great way to start the week for sure! xx
Thank you so much. Definitely need a bit of positivity recently! ❤️
These are lovely, Lisa. I do know them all and my favourite here is Comparison is the thief of Joy. It’s so easy to put yourself down when you look at how well someone else is doing but we don’t know what journey they’re on. My all time favourite quote is “When baiting the mousetrap with cheese, remember to leave room for the mouse” – by Saki. I just love it, it always makes me smile 🙂 Lisa xx
Thank you! I’m so guilty of comparing myself to others so I always need the reminder to stop as it’s so damaging to my mental health.
Oh I’ve not heard that one before! ❤️
The Roosevelt one is so true, and one I often forget! Thank you. 💕
It’s so easy to forget but such an important reminder that we need everyday 💙
Love these quotes dear, especially comparison being the thief of joy. It’a important to remind ourselves not to compare our bloopers to someone’s highlight reel. Thank you for sharing some positivity.

Thank you! Ah I really like the bloopers and highlight reel analogy!
I needed this today! Thank you for sharing.
No worries, I’m glad that they helped! Hope that you’re doing better now ❤️
