How To Get Super Soft Lips

My Favourite lip products

I am forever on the hunt for absolutely amazing moisturising lip products to give me super soft lips. I suffer from dermatillomania (also known as excoriation which are just the fancy name’s for skin picking disorder) where I cannot help but pick the skin on my lips. Team that with dry, cracked lips anyway and we have a huge disaster on our hands. Or lips if you will.

I didn’t even realise that there was an official name for the skin picking that I have done for years until I read an article in Stylist. The author of the article also would pick her lips to the point of bleeding and decided to wear bright, bold lipsticks for 21 days to try and kick the habit.

It’s quite an embarrassing condition to have, as most the time I don’t even realise that I’m in doing it until my lips are sore and sometimes even bleeding. I generally find that it’s much worse when the seasons change and when my anxiety is playing up. It’s not like you can even hide it either. Not only does it make them extremely sore but it’s not very nice to look at.

Time To Take Action

So I decided to go on the hunt for lip products that would give me super soft lips.

I knew that I wanted a good lip scrub. I’ve tried making my own before, with brown sugar and coconut oil etc but I always found them to be so gloopy and messy. I didn’t like the fact that I would have to stick my finger into the pot and smear it all over my mouth.

For a lip balm, again, I didn’t want one in a pot. It needed to have good staying power but not be too gloopy too. So I did some research, got on Google and found the best products that my current budget could afford!

My Favourite Lip Products For Super Soft Lips

My Favourite Lip Products For Super Soft Lips - e.l.f Lip exfoliator Brown Sugar

e.l.f lip exfoliator – Brown sugar

I was extremely happy to come across this in Boots as I’d read some amazing reviews on it! This exfoliator is infused with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oils.

According to the e.l.f website, this scrub promises to Gently exfoliate lips to remove dry, chapped skin and leave lips feeling conditioned and revitalized. Just apply to your lips in small circular movements and wipe away with a damp piece of cotton wool.

If you’re not used to using lip scrubs I would definitely recommend going gently the first few times of using this. I’ve used lip scrubs before but this one really takes its job seriously. The exfoliator particles are fairly large and the formula itself is quite dry which I personally really like. It smells amazing and definitely leaves your lips feeling soft.

Scrubbing your lips also has the added benefit of leaving your lips looking slightly plumper and gives them a natural pink look due to the increased blood flow.

The first few days that I had this I used it faaaar too much. I’m down to once or twice a week now. Doing it more than that is actually damaging for your lips, so I don’t recommend it!

What’s great about e.l.f:

  • Not tested on animals
  • 100% vegan
  • Free from phthalates, parabens and a lot of other things that I can’t pronounce!

This lip scrub is £4.50 and you can buy yours here.

My Favourite lip products - Burt's Bees

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm

Just like lip scrubs, I am not a massive fan of lip balms that you have to put your finger into to get the product out. It just feels less hygienic to me. I did some research and decided to go for Burt’s Bees. You can’t go wrong with a classic, can you?

This lip balm has a nice light formula. It’s not thick and gloopy like some balms you can get but lasts a good few hours. It also has a hint of peppermint oil which gives your lips a lovely tingle.

I use this one at night and anytime during the day as needed.

What’s great about Burt’s Bees:

  • Not tested on animals
  • Recyclable packaging
  • Ingredients from nature
  • Responsible sourcing

This lip balm is £3.99 and you can buy yours here.

My Favourite Lip Products For Super Soft Lips - Dr. Lipp lip tint

Dr. Lipp – Lip Tint in Sweet Potato

I’ll be honest, I hadn’t actually heard of Dr. Lipp before when I received it in Mays look fantastic Beauty Box but I cannot put it down now!

When I first sampled the Dr. Lipp lip balm I must admit, I was slightly disappointed. It felt quite sticky but once I’d warmed it up, I fell in love with it. My lips feel moisturised, soft and are left with a beautiful hint of pink gloss. Dr. Lipp lip tint can also be used on eyelids and cheeks to give you a subtle, glossy, summery look.

I wouldn’t wear this one overnight, it’s definitely too sticky but it’s a great daytime balm that lasts for hours! I tend to use this one when I’m popping out to the shop or if I feel like my lips need some TLC

Whats great about Dr. Lipp:

  • Not tested on animals
  • Maximum of 6 ingredients
  • 100% Natural ingredients
  • Recyclable packaging

Dr. Lipp lip tint is £6.99 and you can buy yours here.
