Ways To Show Your Best Friend You Appreciate Them

We’re all guilty of sometimes taking our best friends for granted. We don’t mean to, but with lockdown, bad mental health, work pressures, kids and busy home/social life, sometimes days or even weeks go by, and we realise we haven’t responded to that text or checked in on them in a while. So I thought I would share some simple but fun ways to show your best friend that you appreciate them.

Write Them A Letter Or Poem

Does anyone even send handwritten letters anymore? Everything is done via email or text message, but how personal and lovely is a handwritten letter? You could purchase some pretty paper, get some confetti to put in the envelope to be annoying and even go back to your teenage routes and spray some perfume on the paper!

Maybe change it up a little bit, and if you’re a bit creative, you could write them a poem or use this one:

A best friend is someone who will always be there,
To talk to and to laugh with, Someone you know will care.

A person you can rely on if you need to shed some tears,
Someone to share the good times, Someone to spend the years.

Some people in life come and go, that is a fact that’s true
But a best friend will be there through everything and will always be there for you.

Bake Some Goodies

Do you have a signature cake or muffin that you’re great at baking? Or maybe you’re an ‘out of a packet’ type gal. Or perhaps you’re terrible at baking, in which case, it might be better to buy yummy treats! Whatever way you decide to do it, it’s the thought that counts!

You could even make it even fancier and put together a little afternoon tea! Make some sandwiches, get some fancy teas or a bottle of bubbly and sit in the garden and put the world to rights!

Share What You Admire About Them

Are they always there for you/calm you down when you’re panicking/great at making you laugh/always have great ideas or solutions/a snazzy dresser/fantastic at their job etc.? Tell them! You might just make their day.

Call Them

A simple call or FaceTime on Best Friend Day (or any time, really!) is a great way to let your best friend know that you’re thinking about them and appreciate them.

Send Them Flowers

Who doesn’t love receiving flowers? It doesn’t have to be an expensive bouquet. Maybe you grow flowers in your own garden that you could gift them? Best not to if they suffer from hayfever, though. Maybe swap to chocolate or their favourite treat.

Share Photo Memories

I LOVE looking back on old photos of good times. You could put together a photo album or put your best photos together in a frame. Alternatively, you could pop them all onto social media for the whole world to see and enjoy.

Buy Them A Gift Or Put Together A Goodie Box

On a brown rug are an assortment of beauty products, such as face packs, lip balms, hair masks, bath bombs and hand creams. There are two gift bags behind the products, one wih rose gold polka dots and the other with flowers.

I put together these little packages for my friends when we were in lockdown. I had so much fun picking out all the bits for the goodie bags and couldn’t wait to gift them! This is the poem that I added to them that you could use if you want:

A best friend is what you are,

I’d like to take you to a spa,

This is not something we can do,

So here is a gift from me to you

It doesn’t have to be just self-care pampering stuff. Do they have a hobby that you could put some bits together for, such as knitting or gardening? Or maybe you could put some yummy treats in there?

Say Thank You

And finally, you could simply say thank you for being my best friend and being there for me. ❤️

Conclusion

And here are my ideas for Best Friend Day! You don’t have to spend lots of money to show your friends how much you appreciate and love them. How will you be celebrating Best Friend Day? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Great ideas here Lisa, I love the picnic in the garden with a bottle of fizz idea especially, so simple yet effective. I love putting together little gift bags for each person’s hobby for their birthdays, it’s a personal touch too x

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, I think that the personal touch means so much more than how much money you’ve spent xx

  2. I love this idea. In lockdown I sent my friend a handmade card , and just said that we are all going to find it tough, but what fun we will have celebrating and having fun. I even bought my gp a bunch of flowers just to say that you for all she has supported me on she was so made up, that totally made me feel good too .

    1. Thank you very much. Ah that’s so nice Marion! Your cards are so beautiful ❤️❤️
