I’ve covered inspirational quotes already, so now, let’s have some parenting quotes! No one said that parenting was easy, but I was not prepared for just how hard, difficult, tiring, exhausting, amazing, incredible and joyful it would be all at the same time.

Parenting can also be lonely. Sometimes, you feel like you are the only one going through these difficult stages, but I want to remind you that you are not alone. So, I’ve rounded up my favourite parenting quotes that I’m sure most parents will be able to relate to. Whether you are laughing along or crying, we got this. The children will not defeat us!

I really didn’t get this before becoming a mother. Now, I get it, I totally get it. Please, just let me lay here. The sofa, the bed, the floor, the garden, aisle 3 of Aldi…I really don’t mind at this point!

I don’t even bother with ‘See you in the morning’ anymore. See ya in a few hours, kid. If we’re lucky.

Silence is golden. Unless you have kids… then silence is suspicious

It’s funny because you would kill for some peace and quiet. Just 5 minutes so that you can hear yourself think. Then, when you get that 5 minutes, you suddenly panic because no one is screaming, yelling, or asking for snacks. And they usually are up to no good. Thankfully, we haven’t had any hair-cutting or wall-painting incidents. Yet.

Parenting is a lot like the bar scene: everyone is yelling, everything is sticky, it’s the same music over and over again, and occasionally someone pukes

Yep, yep, yep and yep. If it’s not my son shouting, it’s me (I sometimes lose my volume control.) Things are sticky, or there is just food left in random places (like by the front door, the washing machine, on the stairs, or the TV unit…) The music is tough – we had to listen to AND do the actions for Baby Shark probably close to 27 times the other week. It’s the sick I can’t do. Dad to the rescue!

Having a child who is five and also autistic means that we have a constant, lifetime supply of chicken nuggets in the house. I’m pretty sure that our whole house smells of chicken nuggets. Better than poo, I suppose.
