June’s lookfantastic Beauty Box

It’s that time of the month again (no, not that time!) It’s June’s lookfantastic Beauty Box time! Yay! The theme this month is ‘Staycation. For the ultimate stay-at-home pamper’. Perfect. Just what we need right now. Let’s get pampering!

The Beauty Bag

Rather than the regular box, this month’s products were packaged in a little beauty bag, in the most beautiful summery green shade, worth £12.00

Honestly, I don’t think I would pay £12.00 for it. It is slightly on the small side, so you wouldn’t be able to fit much in it. I expect it would be good for chucking a few make-up products in for a day out, but definitely not for travelling unless you travel light. As my husband is fully aware, I do not travel light.

Molton Brown Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel Bath and Shower Gel

June's lookfantastic Beauty Box - Molton Brown Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel Bath and Shower Gel

Worth £10.00 for 100ml

Oh my word, this smells so good! So fresh. This shower gel promises to nourish, moisturise and revitalise your skin. It really does leave your skin feeling nourished, and a little goes a long way.

Shangpree Aroma Blend Moisture Mask

June's lookfantastic Beauty Box - Shangpree Aroma Blend Moisture Mask

Worth £2.50

According to the instructions, you have to breathe in the aroma three times when you open the packet. Okay…The mask says that it is deeply hydrating and will make skin softer, smoother and brighter. It contains Rose Water, Rosewood and Ylang Ylang.

Fancy.

It did make my skin feel lovely and supple after using but oh my word; there was so much product on the mask. It was running everywhere and even went into my eye. Thankfully, it didn’t sting!

Josh Wood Colour Everything Mask

Worth £6.00

This deep conditioner hydrates and adds shine to your coloured hair. My hair is currently its (incredibly dull) natural colour. But I still used it as conditioner is conditioner, right? It says to apply to damp hair and leave for 5 minutes before rinsing.

It smelt nice, but I wouldn’t say that it made a massive difference to my hair, which is disappointing. Maybe people with coloured hair see better results?

Glov Rainbow Drop Brush

Worth £10.00

I already have a tangle teaser, but you can never have too many hairbrushes! This brush can be used on wet or dry hair, which is good as when I condition my hair, I do like to comb through it to ensure the conditioner is coating all the ends of my hair. Plus, it gets rid of any loose hairs!

Polaar Very High Protection Sun Cream SPF 50+

June's lookfantastic Beauty Box - Polaar Very High Protection Sun Cream SPF 50+

Worth £13.44

I hate the feel of suntan lotion on my skin. It’s like I can feel the layer of cream on my skin, making me feel sticky and horrible. This suntan lotion feels slightly lighter than other suntan lotions I’ve tried. Although it says fragrance-free, it does have a slight scent to it.

Ultrasun SPF30 Lip Protect

June's lookfantastic Beauty Box - Ultrasun SPF30 Lip Protect

Worth £8.00

I love lip balms! This lip balm is infused with blackcurrant seed oil which apparently reduces inflammation and chapping; however, the product is fragrance-free. I personally would have loved a blackcurrant scent!

Conclusion

I’ll be honest; I’m disappointed with June’s lookfantastic Beauty Box. For an ‘ultimate stay-at-home pamper’, I would like to see products like a body scrub, moisturiser, nail varnish, cuticle oil, bubble bath/bath bomb, and things like that.

I know some people probably like receiving sun protection products, but personally I don’t think of pampering or luxury when I think of sun protection. This is the 3rd Beauty Box I’ve received from lookfantastic. The first two were excellent, so I’m hoping that I’ll be wowed again next month!

Also, lookfantastic usually includes a little magazine with each beauty box, which gives you more detail on the products, interviews, etc. Due to Coronavirus, they’ve temporarily suspended the magazine. Instead, we were meant to be receiving an email with a link to the online magazine, but unfortunately, I haven’t received it yet!

And that’s June’s lookfantastic Beauty Box. If you would like to subscribe to the lookfantastic Beauty Box, you can do so via their website.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I’ve never tried beauty subscriptions but for a stay at home pamped I would expect a bit more.. Bath bombs, scrubs etc as well. Sub protection is important butttt well its not overly relaxing!

    1. Yep, my point exactly! Reading reviews from other people who get the box and they weren’t overly impressed either. Hoping next month makes up for it! xx

  2. I love the idea of a beauty box. It’s a shame this one felt a bit of a let down though – you want to find new products that really inspire you with something like this. I hope next month’s is better – at least you knew the previous ones were worth it though so fingers crossed.

    1. Thank you! I’m hoping that this month was just a blip. If not, I’ve heard good things about Birch Box so I might have to swap over! xx

  3. Thanks for sharing this! I’ve never looked into monthly subscription boxes but I really like the idea of this! x

  4. I share your feelings, I don’t regard sun protection as especially pampering either, what a strange choice! But if you fancy trying another subscription box then I’d recommend Birchbox. They’re cheaper and the products are more varied (I think). I used to get them for about a year but had to stop because I had a backlog of products to use up! Hope next month’s LF box is better for you, Lisa x

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, definitely feel like LF missed the mark the month. Should have saved the sun protection for another month or maybe done a beach at home idea or something? I looked at Birchbox when I was trying to decide which beauty box to go for. I’ll see how the next few months of LF are then maybe I’ll swap over if it doesn’t improve ☺️☺️

  5. This was really interesting to read! I’ve never had a monthly subscription box. It was nice to see you didn’t just hype it up for the sake of it and you’ve given a very honest review 😊

    1. Exactly! Some of the products are lovely but I definitely feel like lookfantastic missed the mark on this one! Fingers crossed for next month xx

  6. Thanks for sharing! I haven’t ever used a monthly subscription box like this so it’s always interesting to see what sort of products you get 🙂

    1. Thank you. It can be a bit hit and miss with the beauty boxes. Last months box was so much better. I was a pretty disappointed this month! xx
