How on earth is it June already? Seriously, does time get faster the older you get? Every time I write a looking back post can’t believe we’re in another month! Is anyone else utterly shocked with just how fast time is going?
Anyway, let’s get into looking back at May 2021!
I WENT ON HOLIDAY!
Darren, Little J and I went on holiday! We spent a week in Cornwall, and it was just lovely. My sister, her husband and my three nephews were also in the same holiday park. My mum, dad and auntie should have been with us on holiday, but they couldn’t join us for reasons that I’ll explain when I’m ready.
It was so great to get away. We went swimming, played crazy golf, played in the park and visited Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm. The Farm was AMAZING! We got to sample all of their delicious ciders, take a tractor ride around the orchard, pet some animals and also got up close to a peacock!

Blogging
I’ve been quite organised, surprisingly! I finished writing up all of May’s posts by the 13th of May, which is incredible for me. I’m usually finishing the post the day before, or the morning of the day it’s due to be published. I’ve also planned out my content for June, which I’m just in the process of writing up now. Pinterest is another story altogether.
Mental Health
My mental health has been extremely up and down this month. At the start of the month, the changes that I started making had a positive impact. Something that really helped was the fact that I changed up my evening routine. Before, I would blog until about 11, then watch TV and fall asleep watching some rubbish on my phone at about 1am-ish.
Now, I blog until about 10:30 and then do some colouring for half an hour or so. I then read a book for a bit before I fall asleep listening to a sleep story on Calm. My quality of sleep has improved, and I feel so much better and calmer too.
However, I did have a few days of anxiety and panic attacks. I’ve already started making changes and asking for help, so hopefully, this is just a quick blip!
My Weight
The weight had been ever so slightly coming off. Until I went on holiday. We ate pasties, had scones with cream and jam, and I even had a few drinks!
I know that now I’m home, I could be doing more stuff to help speed up the weight loss, but with all the other changes I’m making at the moment, I’m not sure I could add something else right now! It’s definitely on the horizon, though, as I know how important exercise is to mental health.
What I’m Watching
Nothing! Where I’m now colouring and reading in the evenings, I no longer have the time to watch anything. Oh, I tell a lie. I get to watch whatever Little J is watching, and he is currently favouring a cartoon called Bluey. It’s about a family of dogs that live in Australia. It’s actually hilarious, and honestly, I don’t mind watching it! What has happened to me?!
What I’ve Loved This Month
Calm. This is my absolute new favourite app! Massive thanks to Emily for getting me to sign up for this. The premium version is £29.99 for the year, which I understand sounds like a lot, but actually, when you consider how much it helps your mental health, it’s really not bad at all!
Calm’s goal is…”to help you improve your health and happiness”. The premium version does so much! It is broken down into sections to make it easier to navigate. There is a sleep section that is then broken down further into stories, nature, ASMR and more. It has some big names, too, reading the stories, like Matthew McConaughey, Stephen Fry, Cillian Murphy, Harry Styles and Idris Elba, to name but a few.
There are also guided meditations, music, yoga and more.
My Goals
These were the goals I set in April:
- STAY CONSISTENT – Ummm. I’ve been better, but I’ve ignored Pinterest recently. I wish I had the money to pay someone to do Pinterest for me. It’s so good for views but creating and scheduling Pins bores me to tears!
- Start Meditating – Yes, Calm has a whole range of meditations that I’ve been more than happy to test out.
- Do things that make me happy – Yep, I’ve started colouring and reading, as I mentioned above. I forgot how much I loved reading. There was one evening when I thought I’d read for 20 minutes and before I knew it, an hour had passed!
No goals for June. I want to get my mental health back into a good place, and I’ve got A LOT of posts to write up, and I just don’t have time to focus on any extra goals at the moment!
And that’s it from me for now. Thanks for looking back at May 2021 with me!

You’ve done loads in may and a family holiday as well 😊😊😊
I too love reading and some night’s when I’m in my bedroom I don’t have the telly on I read for around 2 hours unless I’m nodding off 😂
I too love the adult colouring books and also have a app on my i pad which I also find really relaxing to do before I know it I’ve done around 5 lots I love to colour the places section loads of buildings and lakes & all sorts and to see the end result is also nice ☺️
I look 👀 forward to see what you get up to in June and ohh by the way your garden is a massive improvement so perhaps you should include something about this in June’s blog may be add a few pictures to show others how your seeds have been doing as well ☺️
And when Darren has done the front garden before and after pictures always a good idea to show others ☺️
I’m not telling you what to do lol 😂 just a idea
See you soon xxx
Thank you so much Carol.
That’s a great idea about including information on the garden! With all the stuff I’m growing there is always going to be lots of updates. I’ll start that from next month, thank you!
We’ll definitely do a before and after of our front garden, that will be a massive transformation even though it’s so tiny!
I’m so happy to have rediscovered my love of reading. It’s so relaxing! xx
