Here we are in September. Another new month. Every single month I’m surprised that we’re in a new month like it doesn’t happen 12 times a year! I’ve always had funny feelings going into September. It probably dates back to being school age and knowing that as soon as September hit that meant that I was going back to school.
As I got older, September meant that Autumn and Winter was coming. I’ve never done well when the seasons start shifting. The dark nights drawing in always meant that my anxiety would start kicking my butt again. Hopefully, this year will be different. Since upping my mental game and embarking on a spiritual journey and purchasing lots of spiritual items, my mental health has drastically improved.
Strange really, when you consider what I’ve been through this Summer.
Anyway, let’s get back to looking back at August 2021.
Blogging
Not an awful lot to say here, to be completely honest. I didn’t blog at all after my dad got really ill. A month after he passed I felt ready to start getting blogging again, however, my auntie unexpectedly passed away too.
I knew that focusing on my mental health and looking after my family was more important than blogging. Plus, I didn’t feel like I could write. Talking about just anything felt quite trivial in comparison to what my dad was going through.
Obviously, my views have dipped. I’m not surprised though, as I did hardly any promoting or anything. I’ve been easing myself back into blogging and I’ve some new content coming this month. I’m taking it easy and not pushing myself too hard at the moment.
However, saying that, I have been working on a new Freebie Library. I decided to do away with my ebook and instead launch the library. In it, you will find guides and advice on a range of topics from mental health, parenting and spirituality. To gain access to my freebie library all you need to do is sign up to my mailing list below:
Mental Health
As you can imagine, my mental health has been all over the place recently. Two funerals in the space of a month is a lot to handle.
I am trying to keep up with all the things that I know help, such as getting enough sleep, meditation, and gardening. Like with blogging, I’m not pushing myself too hard at the moment. I’m taking each day as it comes and going with how I’m feeling that day.
I have also decided to completely give up alcohol. I drank Prosecco after my dad’s funeral, and for the week afterwards, I suffered from terrible mental health. So, I’ve decided that drinking is just not worth it. Now I’m on the lookout for some alcohol-free beverages to enjoy at a weekend. To be honest, I’m not going to miss the fuzzy head and queasy feeling that comes the day after drinking.
What I’m Watching
Obviously, I watched Loki. I mean, what Marvel fan hasn’t? I both loved it and was completely confused by it. But I won’t go into detail as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. Just watch it.
I also finally got to watch Cruella. I loved it. Emma Stone was absolutely perfect as Cruella. It was really fun to see a different side of the character and how she came to be.
What I’ve Loved This Month
I just started watching WhispersRed ASMR videos on Youtube. They are incredible. I don’t normally like ASMR videos, but Emma from WhispersRed is just amazing. She does so many different things, hair brushing, colouring, product unboxing. This is currently my favourite one:
My Garden
All the lovely sunshine had was great for my garden. My tomatoes turned red, my roses started to bloom and the sunflower is getting bigger and bigger. Unfortunately, we didn’t get much sun, so everything has slowed down. I’m actually looking forward to starting my garden earlier next year so that the flowers bloom earlier. I didn’t really start to get into gardening properly until we received our first Mud And Bloom box, but since then, I have been hooked!
I Got My Hair Done
When I was younger I used to have short hair and loved dying it all sorts of colours. I’ve been light blonde, different shades of purple, blue, black, orange, red…
Then, as I got older, I preferred having longer hair and have blonde highlights put through. After having Little J I just couldn’t afford the upkeep of it all so I stopped having my hair coloured.
Well, I got bored with my hair. I was fed up with the length and the colour.
So, I went from this:

To this:

I am absolutely thrilled to bits with my hair.
Got Tattooed
Myself, sister, brother, nephew and Daz got tattooed in August. We wanted something to remember my dad and auntie by. So we decided on a ball of wool with two knitting needles, with ‘Who Cares?’ underneath. The wool is for my auntie who ADORED knitting. Who Cares was for my dad. It was his catchphrase that he used on birthdays and anniversaries. You could guarantee that on anyone’s birthday amongst all the lovely ‘Happy Birthday!’ messages on Facebook, there would be one from my dad, stating ‘Who Cares?’ We all agreed that getting who cares was perfect, as we do in fact care very much.
Tattoo day also coincided with my dads birthday so it very much felt like it was meant to be.

And that’s everything for this month. Thank you for looking back at August 2021 with me.
